In this episode I’m meeting up with Pierre Metz, a Luxembourg expat who’s been living in Bangkok for over 20 years.
Pierre takes me to Eathai, his favourite food court in a large shopping mall, to check out streetfood in an air-conditioned environment. A few floors up, we check out one of Pierre’s highly popular restaurants, Peppina, which specializes in authentic Neapolitan pizzas.
We also head to Michelin-starred Le Du restaurant, run by talented Chef Ton, who also happens to be a judge on Thailand’s Top Chef. Pierre is good friends with Ton, and so it’s no surprise that his wines feature on Le Du’s menu. Here, Pierre talks to me about his wine importing business and about his biodynamic vineyard in the Languedoc region.
I also get to visit Pierre’s home, where I end up cooking up a Rieslingspaschtéit (Luxembourg meat pie) with Thai flavours for him and his friends.
