Takashimaya Food Hall

If there’s a food heaven it must be a Japanese ‘depachika’ – the food halls found in the basement of most departments stores in Japan. Here you find all kinds of Japanese delicacies: from tempura counters to rice crackers in all shapes and colours, from the bento boxes of your wildest dreams to dainty little sweets which don’t end up tasting sweet at all. It’s all here under one roof.

If you want to check out one of the loveliest depachikas, head to Takashimaya department store, which has an exemplary food hall downstairs.

I explored Takashimaya Food Hall with food writer Elizabeth Andoh in this episode of my ‘Anne’s Asian Adventures’ show. You can watch it here.
